The Bauchi State Attorney General,Barr. Ibrahim Umar on Thursday, implored members of Bauchi communities to expose perpetrators of violence to maintain peace in the state irrespective of family ties.
The Attorney General was speaking during a flaging-off campaign lecture on peace advocacy and security consciousness awareness held at Zaranda Hotel.
The lecture which was organised by a Non Governmental Organisation (NGO), named Search light Initiative for Community a Peace Advocacy and Rural Development in Nigeria(SLICPARDN) is targeted at improving relations between community and security agents.
The attorney general disclosed that the act would provide intelligent information to security agencies, adding that master minders of such acts were living comfortably within communities.
“Members of the communities should inform security agents on any person that is involve in any act of violence,performing criminal activities or any social vices because they stay among us and live within the communities,” he said.
“We should expose any person involved in such act irrespective of family relationship because we have to make sacrifices for peaceful, “ he said.
Also speaking the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Borno State Command, Mr Dominion Eifno said that the Nigeria Police has variousplatforms for community policing to safe guard members of the public.
He said that with such collaboration between communities and the security agencies, peace and security would be maintained.
In his remarks the Public Relation officer,( SICPARDN),Mr Adewale Adelasoye said the lecture is aimed at involving government and grassroots participation in sustaining peace in North East states and the country at large.
He said that the need to improve on neighborhood safety and community policing should be everybody’s concern adding that the NGO has sensitized Fulani herdsmen on peace and security matters in communities.
One of the representatives of Fulani herdsmen in Tafawa Balewa Local Government, Malam Ibrahim Musa explained that there is need for government to involve community leaders on security matters
