The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has denied reports in the media that it has suspended 202 staff indicted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The commission in a statement yesterday called on Nigerians to disregard the report, as it is in the process of investigating and interviewing the staff members concerned in accordance with the principles of fair hearing.
Recall that 202 INEC staff members were accused of benefitting from N23 billion bribery allegedly facilitated by former minister for Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Maduekwe, ahead of the 2015 elections. The accused were based in 14 states.
