The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the House of Representatives alleged that Kaduna state Governor Mallam Nasir el-Rufa’i of a hidden agenda, different from his seeming campaign for President Muhammadu Buhari’s continuity in office.
Minority Leader, Leo Ogor, who briefed selected journalists yesterday, said El-Rufa’i revelation in the leaked memo to President Buhari on the alleged failure of the APC government in fulfilment of its campaign promises was a reality.
Ogor also observed that some interests close to the President were out to sabotage his government. Noting that that sensitive agencies of government had turned against one another under in an unprecedented manner.
He however noted that the extent of sabotage by some of the insiders in government could be devastating before the end of the tenure in 2019.
“The All Progressives Congress (APC) rode into power on the crest of the most fantastic promises ever made to the people of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, many of whom now grapple with intense existential difficulties as lacklustre management of the economy; increasing rates of crime, unemployment, suicide and other challenges continue to soar in spite of the hollow promise of ‘change’.
“It is against this background that one considers the leaked memo that Governor Nasir el-Rufa’i addressed to President Muhammadu Buhari from the dual perspectives to which most commentators in the land have assigned it.
“On one hand, it is easy to commend Governor El-Rufa’i for helping stimulate public discourse about the pattern of leadership under a well intentioned President who has been screened off from citizens and their realities by an insensitive and politically naive clique of aides and advisers.
