Just recently, the ability of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Adamawa State, Senator Mohammadu Umaru Jibrilla Bindow to translate campaign promises into action, earned him another award. This time, it is by a realm of the estate of governance noted, more for its eagle-eye focus on the performance of political office holders in the desire to defend the Nigerian people even from its leaders.

This latest award is “2016 Leadership Governor of the Year”. LEADERSHIP Newspapers is one of the daily Nigerian newspapers with the mission to serve God and Humanity in both within and outside the shores of the country, covering Europe and African countries, having its publishing headquarters in Abuja, Nigeria. On its commitment to the best global practices, the newspaper asserts: “We shall stand up for good governance. We shall defend the interests of the Nigerian state even against its leaders and we shall raise our pen at all times in defense of what is right. These are the values by which we intend to be assessed.”

It is therefore, in furtherance of the fulfillment of its objective of defending the Nigerian people that the newspaper discovered giant strides that need to be awarded. The LEADERSHIP Newspaper, in its effort aimed at highlighting what form a people-focused leadership should be like, found the performance of Governor Umaru Jibrilla Bindow as worthy of recognition.

It has come to the knowledge of the newspaper, that Governor Umaru Jibrilla is busy uplifting Adamawa State and its people from the decimate status that hitherto characterised it. It will be recalled that in 2016, Umaru Jibrilla Bindow, was chosen as Governor of the Year for putting Adamawa State on a path of economic independence – a feat for a northern state governor – and driving an unprecedented infrastructural development across the state. The LEADERSHIP Newspaper award is an annual event commemorated, in line with its tradition of celebrating individuals and organisations that have distinguished themselves in their various fields of endeavour and made outstanding contributions to Nigeria and the world in the course of the year. The conferment of the award on Umaru Jibrilla Bindow is no exception.

Other awardees in the best Governor category include: Anambra State governor, Chief Willy Obiano, who was nominated Governor of the Year for changing the narrative in his state with his rock-solid modern agricultural revolution, provision of adequate security, infrastructure and empowerment programmes for his people and Akwa Ibom State governor, Chief Emmanuel Udom, who was nominated for his strides in rural development, on the basis of his current transformation efforts in opening up the rural communities in his state and for bringing seriousness and responsibility to governance and crafting the highly successful “Dakkada” philosophy in addition to several works in infrastructure.

No doubt, the team saddled with the responsibility of selecting nominees and confirming them has done a thorough job.

For Bindow is indeed a golden fish which has no any hiding place. As he is busy trying to achieve posterity records and successes, individuals and organisations like LEADERSHIP Newspapers have seen great virtue in his style of leadership. This is for the staunch facts of his massive economic turn around noticed in his one year and half in the state, a penchant style of leadership hardly recorded since the return of democracy in Nigeria.

Before now Adamawa State was second to none in terms of infrastructural development, but the Dan Baiwa (Bindow) with his divine endowed wisdom is the architect that is fast bringing out the beauty of the state and injecting new philosophy in the minds of people that Adamawa will be great again.

Before now, Adamawa State was an old state that gave birth to Taraba when it was Gongola, but in concrete terms, there is no correspondent recourse to development, whether human or infrastructure. The state was indeed in a sorry condition until when a “Civil General”, a man called “Bindow” stormed in and took over the affairs of the state.

The word Bindow is synonymous with working and nothing but work. My perception and understanding of the name, I have discovered, is a man working, a working man with a direct personality of his person, meaning that a man can act out exactly, the true meaning of the name he answers.

I have now unraveled the true rhetoric meaning of the name “Bindow”. The Fulani interpretation of the word means a “Writer”, an action word that connotes “work”. I further realised that it is more of an abbreviated word that stands to be:

B-      Breakthrough

I-        Into

N-      New

D-      Development

O-      of

W-     Work

B-I-N-D-O-W is breaking through into the new fallow grounds of development, a work he purposely plans to achieve, come rain, come shine. No wonder his political allies call him “Agogo sarkin aiki”, this is really the true nature of who he is. A working personified governor, an action man that is setting a pace in the developmental scene of Adamawa State.

With the coming of Bindow on board Adamawa state has become a “no doll moment”,hardly a week will pass by without any One project or the other that will be launched for construction.

I stand with the LEADERSHIP Newspaper, and I appreciate this great Information medium for recognising that there is a Messiah that’s bearing the problems of Adamawa State, who is standing at the mountain top, has sighted the Promised Land and is daring to take the state there. This, I know, the publisher of LEADERSHIP Newspaper is called for the sake of the downtrodden, the voiceless, truth and for justice to prevail.
