Former Eagles captain and soccer legend, Jay Jay Okocha has finally found a substitute for football after making his first golf appearance in the Barclays Pro-Am Open Challenge in Kenya yesterday.
The former Bolton Wanderers midfielder was a competitor in the pre-tournament challenge with main event, Barclays Kenya Open Golf Championship billed to commence today through to Sunday.
Okocha who scored 85 career goals in 454 club games, enjoyed a few rounds of golf in the Muthaiga Golf Club – venue for this year’s golf course before sharing his experience on his social media page.
It was, however, amazing that the Nigerian legendary football player, who is not a regular golfer, was able to quickly get into the game and hit some interesting shots during his appearance in the Barclays Bank of Kenya Pro-Am.
“I don’t play golf though I think I need to practice a bit. I find it interesting and different from football,” said Okocha as he turned for the back nine in the company of Barclays Bank’s Zaheed Mustafa and Yusuf Omar, and pros Oliver Farr and Jacob Okello.
Okocha, who is here as a special guest of Barclays Bank, said he was very excited to be in Kenya, and particularly having been invited to participate in the Pro-Am.
