The wife of the Lagos state governor, Mrs Bolanle Ambode has applauded a nongovernmental organisation, Young Entrepreneurs of Nigeria (YEN), on its conscious efforts to help grow and support aspiring young entrepreneurs and women in the Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs) sector in Nigeria.
Speaking at the YEN-sponsored youth and women empowerment programme in Lagos, the governor’s wife pointed out that the efforts of YEN, which complement those of the government towards youth empowerment, poverty alleviation and wealth creation were critical to poverty alleviation and national development.
“I am informed that the various support to be enjoyed by young entrepreneurs under this initiative include business capacity building, networking opportunities, free web hosting services worth over N50 million among others,” she said.
The wife of the Lagos state governor urged other corporate bodies and individuals to complement the Lagos state government’s efforts towards youth empowerment, poverty alleviation and job creation.
Earlier,in his remarks, National president, YEN, Chris Kohol, said young people are great contributors and backbone of any top-notch economy on earth, adding that Nigeria needs to engage and support its youth and empower them to do exploits.
Kohol said the YEN platform was collectively building a world class economy for Nigeria through national and grassroots talent harnessing, unity of purpose, effective communication and youth entrepreneurship development.
“YEN as a platform will selflessly and relentlessly continue to promote youth entrepreneurship development and healthy competition that will create jobs, economic prosperity, social wealth and security to enhance the development and growth of our Nigerian economy into a world-class one,” he emphasised.
