Osun State College of Education, Ila-Orangun will as part of its convocation ceremonies honour Major General Paul Tafa rtd, Chief Adebisi Akande, Chief Bola Babalakin, SAN, with the institution’s fellowship award.
Also to be honoured post humorously at the grand finale on 23rd March, 2017 are the founder, former governor of old Oyo State Chief Bola Ige and Oba Williams Adetona Ayeni, the immediate past traditional ruler of Ila Orangun.
Briefing newsmen on activities lined up for the combined graduation of eight sets of the institution in Ila-Orangin, the Provost, Professor Isaac Olayinka Oyewole disclosed that the awardees were considered eligible for the awards by virtue of their roles in the establishment, growth and development of the institution.
Oyewole who further disclosed that over 20,000 students of 2006/2007 to 2013/2014 academic sessions would receive their National Certificate of Education (NCE) attributed the combined ceremony to paucity of fund.
The Provost who expressed optimism that the institution will soon be granted a degree awarding institution status said the vision is not to be an ordinary degree awarding institution but to be the first University of Science and Education Technology in Nigeria.
According to him, though the college need to be upgraded, the college is endowed with all necessary materials be it human or physical resources for the status of a University of Science and Education Technology.
He disclosed that the college recently entered into partnership with the Federal Government on Commercial farming in order to establish appropriate farm gate agro-allied education businesses.
The Provost appreciated Governor Rauf Aregbesola for his administration’s support for the institution, the State House of Assembly and the institution governing Council for their roles in ensuring stability in the school.
