
After putting up an impressive run which saw them win all the matches played, Kaduna Trappco emerged winners of the 38th Kaduna International Trade Fair Polo Tournament.
The side was crowned after beating Profile Team 3 ½-3 in the last match played on Sunday at the Kaduna Polo Club grounds.
First runners-up Dokaji, won one of its two matches, while Profile finished as second runner-up of the Trade Fair Cup.
Funage Farms emerged winners of the President’s Cup, while Team RISAA from Port Harcourt finished second.
ZAZ Project put up a brilliant performance to emerge winners of the Captain’s Cup, leaving B&S Global Link no option, but to settle for second place.
Emotions, however, ran wild when the late Mohammed Bello Cup, aimed at immortalising the player who died while training, was presented to the winners and runner-up, with the children of the deceased making an appearance during the presentation. Team A won Team B to win that trophy dedicated to kids who are also polo players.
Speaking to newsmen shortly after the presentation of trophies to winners and runners-up, the president of Kaduna Polo Club, Alhaji Suleiman Abubakar (Magayakin Keffi), said that he was impressed with the success of the mini-tournament, while giving the Kaduna Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (KADCCIMA) kudos for sponsoring the tournament.
Speaking further, he said that the Kaduna Polo Club had become unique for being first in the business of developing talent.
The tournament manager of the club, Honourable Ibrahim Kontagora, said that the management team of the club was, obviously, making good progress.
