Gov. Dickson Receives Judicial Inquiry Report On 2015 Election Violence

The Bayelsa state governor, Hon. Seriake Dickson, at the weekend, received the report of the Judicial Commission of Inquiry set up to investigate cases of violence, killings and destruction of properties during the 2015 governorship elections in the state.

According to Governor Dickson, though the state will study the details and recommendations of the Justice Margareth Akpomiemie led commission of Inquiry, those indicted as perpetrator of the violence and mayhem on the citizenry during the last governorship elections in the state will face the consequences for their actions.

Governor Seriake Dickson, who made this known while receiving the report by the Judicial Commission of Enquiry into Election Violence inthe state in 2015, assured that the state government will study the report and come out with appropriate actions.

Governor Dickson, who also used the occasion to commend the chairperson of the commission, Hon. Justice Margaret Akpomiemie for 20 years of meritorious service to the state, commended the work that the commission did in the past one year and promised to speak more in the course of activities planned for her exit from the judiciary.

Earlier during her speech, the chairperson of the Judicial Commission of Inquiry, Justice Akpomiemie, expressed hope that the findings and recommendations will be useful for future elections and described her role in the commission as her last assignment as she retires from service.
