Members of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) in Asaba, Delta State have described as disturbing violent approach by its members across the country to actualize their demands.
This is as they condemned the alleged police attack on the members in Port Harcourt, Rivers State during their recent peaceful rally in support of the new President of the United States of America, Donald Trump.
IPOB, in a statement issued in Asaba, by its acting state chairman, Nelson Udoh, said, “We are very angry with the way and manner federal government is treating our members, we are advocating that to actualize our demands, it would be non-violent, we must continue to advocate for Biafra State. It is our right and we will never stop”.
The statement explained that peaceful demonstrations are allowed in a democratic dispensation so long as those concerned conduct themselves lawfully, adding that the recent attack on their members by the police in Rivers State was wicked and inhuman.
It wondered why the pro-Trump IPOB members would be attacked by security agents in Nigeria while the whole world watched thousands of anti-Trump protesters being guided and protected by American security agents, same day during Mr. Trump’s inauguration.
But in a swift reaction to their statement, the police image-maker in the state, Mr. Andrew Aniamaka described the members’ threats as nothing to reckon with, adding that the police will arrest any of their members who break the law.
Aniamaka said, “IPOB members’ threats are just mere threats, we will curtail them when they take laws into their hands.”
