Flight Relocation: Kaduna Airport Still In Full Operations

The commercial activities and airline operations were in full swing  at Kaduna International Airport despite the reopening of Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on Tuesday.

Recall that,the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, was shut down for repairs on the runaway which lasted six weeks and its operations diverted to Kaduna.

Our correspondent who visited Kaduna Airport, observed that apart from Ethiopia foreign airline that left to Abuja all other local airlines were boarding and disembarking passengers.

Besides, business activities along the road and inside the airport was booming just as commercial buses were still conveying passengers to the Abuja and Railway Station terminal in Rigasa, suburb of Kaduna town.

LEADERSHIP gathered that, Ethiopia,the only airline that was plying the Kaduna airport will return in a month time to further explore the Kaduna route.

Kaduna State Governor,Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, had met with the management of Ethiopia airline in Abuja for possible return of flight operations after the relocation to Abuja.

Meanwhile,in an interview with LEADERSHIP at the Kaduna Airport, the airport  Manager, Mrs Amina Salami, commended the airline operators for sustaining the operations.

According to her:”Ethiopia airline will be back in one month or two to continue with its operations at Kaduna Airport. They will meet the management and analyze their operations first before coming back. The Ethiopia airline gave us full assurances because they enjoy operations here. Ethiopia airline is going to separate Kaduna passengers from Abuja passengers” Salami explained.

Salami further added:” As you can see all local airlines are here doing business. They will also continue flight operations in Kaduna Airport especially to South West and South Eastern part of the country. Commercial buses conveying our passengers to Abuja are still doing their businesses.” she said.

At Rigasa train terminal, passengers were seen boarding as traders were making brisk business.

One of the shop owners at Rigasa rail station, Shehu Samaila, who speaks in his native Hausa language said:” We are still doing our business here as you can see. Passengers from the train station to airport are patronising us. Despite recession customers are still coming” he said. ENDs
