Police, NANS To Collaborate On Peaceful Coexistence

The Inspector General of Police, IGP Ibrahim Idris ‎has called for collaboration with the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS on ways of achieving peaceful coexistence with the Nigeria Police.
The IGP, who ‎made the call when the executive of NANS visited him in at the Force Headquarters, in Abuja, directed that police officers from different command should be incorporated into the “Police, Nigeria Students Partnership for Peace Building” program of NANS.
He also called for the need for the Police and NANS to always engage in dialogue at every command in order to encourage better relationship and encourage peaceful collaboration with between the police and the students.
IGP Idris also used the opportunity to address the issue of “Bail is Free” as raised by the students and noted that if any police man is found violating the directive on this bail, the police man should be reported immediately for action to be taken against him.
Earlier in his address, the president of NANS, Kadiri Aruna thanked the IGP on his intervention in the quick released of some students who were locked up in Kirikiri, Lagos.
While stating the objective of their visit, Aruna seeked the IGP’s assistance with the NANS program,  ‎”Police, Nigeria Students Partnership for Peace Building”‎; and called for better working relationship.
He also brought to the notice of the IGP that some policemen were still in the habit of collecting money for bail, thereby violating  ‎the IGP’s directive.
The meeting, however, saw the launching of the “Police is Your Friend” banner between the Nigeria Police and the Nigerian Students.
