A woman has been nabbed by the Lagos residents for faking pregnancy and using it to extort money from unsuspecting sympathisers.
The woman, identified as one Nkem Nwachukwu, is alleged to be a serial fraudster who dupes people with pregnancy.
Nwachukwu, who lives in Lekki/Ajah area of Lagos, is a common face in all the banks in the area, extorting monies from unsuspecting sympathetic Lagos residents by seeking sympathy as ‘her water is broken and she is entering labour.’
Armed with this story, it was gathered that she will attract sympathisers but after collecting N30, 000 and at times N50, 000, in a day, she will disappear into thin air with her loot only to resurface in another area of Lekki/Ajah.
It was gathered that in some cases, she would mention the hospital bill and say a vehicle is waiting to take her to the hospital and that there was no need to arrange a taxi for her.
Witness said even when a taxi was provided for her, she will order the taxi driver to another direction and alight. The Lagos Task Force, who was said to have apprehended her p, is investigating the case.
