
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) yesterday arraigned a former permanent secretary in the federal ministry of labour and productivity, Dr. Illoh Onubuogo Clement, before the Federal High Court in Lagos on a three-count-charge of non-assets declaration.
In the first count, the defendant on the 19th of April 2016 in Lagos allegedly failed to make full disclosure of assets to the tune of N97.3million, an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 27 subsection 3c of the EFCC Establishment Act of 2004.
In the second count, he allegedly failed to make a disclosure of the sum of $139,575 and in the third count he failed to disclose assets of £10, 121. According to the anti-graft agency’s counsel, Rotimi Oyedepo the offences are contrary to the provisions Of sections 23 (3)(c) of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (Establishment) Act 2004.
The accused however, pleaded not guilty to the charges. Following a bail application as moved by his counsel, Mr. Tom Awana, the trial judge, Justice Babs Kuewumi admitted the accused to bail in the sum of N50 million with one surety in like sum.
