The eight local government areas chairmen in Bayelsa State, yesterday, confirmed the receipt of N1.3billion out of the N14.5billion Paris Club Refund remitted to the state by the federal government.
According to the local government chairmen, though the N1.3 billion was delayed to allow the council administrations put its acts together in terms of over bloated wage bill, the administration of Governor Seriake Dickson has remitted the amount to councils’ accounts without any deductions.
The chairman of Brass local government area and the spokesman of the Association of Local Government Of Nigeria (ALGON), Hon. Bello Bina, while confirming the development yesterday during a courtesy call on him by the leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) led by Comrade John Angese, exonerated the state governor, Hon. Seriake Dickson from alleged tampering with the share of Paris Club Refund meant for local government councils.
He pointed out that Governor Seriake Dickson’s judicious utilisation of the Paris Club Refund has attracted commendations from the anti-graft agencies including the Economic and Financial CrimeCommission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC).
Bina noted that despite the delay, the local government  administrations are poised to properly utilise the money received as  share from the Paris Club Refund.
